What's needed to get started?
To make Magnetic Bookmarks like Stickiply you'll need a thermal laminator that laminates up to 150 micron/4 mil thickness. We recommend the following laminators which can be purchased on Amazon:
You may also want to use a cutting machine to cut out your magnetic bookmarks but this is optional. You will need a Cricut Explore/Maker 3 & above, Siser Juliet or Romeo and/or Silhouette Cameo 4 & above. Due to the thickness of thermally laminated materials, older machines like the Cricut Air 2 may struggle to cut through.
Magnetic Bookmarks will also benefit from being scored down the centre with a paper scoring tool or an adapted tool for your cutting machine. You can find our Paper Scoring Board which Stickiply uses to score their magnetic bookmarks here.

Disclaimer: Materials needed are an approx estimate based on the sizing of our magnetic bookmarks & backing cards which can be found here along with templates to use for yourself. Stickiply uses double sided photo paper for their magnetic bookmarks, and single sided photo paper for their backing cards due to the slight extra thickness of the double sided coating.
Instructions
- Download our templates for Magnetic Bookmarks here & here. Download our template for our Backing Cards here.
- Use the templates above to create your magnetic bookmarks and backing cards along with our sizing information on our Magnetic Bookmark page here. You may want to add a scoring line to your bookmark to show where to fold/score.
- Print your magnetic bookmarks onto the double sided photo paper supplied, and the backing cards onto the single sided photo paper supplied. Leave to dry for at least 30 minutes. Leave black or dark images to dry for 24 hours.
- Warm-up your thermal laminator, adjust lamination settings for 150 micron/4 mil. Place your printed paper into the Glossy Laminating Pouches provided and into your laminator.
- Optional: If you using a cutting machine, place your laminated sheet onto your cutting mat and adjust your setting according to the pressure/force needed for thick materials.
- Optional: Once cut, use your Paper craft scoring board to score a straight line down the centre of your bookmark (facing the print) to give it a clean and long-lasting fold.
- Place two self-adhesive magnets together twisting until you find the optimal and strongest position (Usually a Z formation).
- Peel off the backings and stick the stack of magnets to one side of your bookmark.
- Close your bookmark onto the Magnet stack and squeeze to seal down the sticky back of the magnet to your bookmark.
- Place into the Cellobags provided!

USA (United States) 🇺🇸
For US customers, all orders under $800 USD from the UK 🇬🇧 do not have any traditional import fees – this is called the de minimis exemption. Sales tax may apply depending on the state you reside and value of goods, so please check with your local government as this is applied by and paid to them.
The de minimus exemption doesn’t apply however, to goods made in China 🇨🇳, even if they’re shipped from the UK🇬🇧. U.S. Customs will charge fees on items of Chinese 🇨🇳 origin no matter the value. APRIL 2ND, 2025 - 10% TARIFF ON UK 🇬🇧 ORIGIN GOODS
As of April 2nd 2025, the United States introduced a 10% import tariff on UK origin goods. This means that if a product is manufactured in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧, U.S. Customs may apply an import duty equal to 10% of the order value. These charges are determined by U.S. Customs and are not within our control.
Stickiply products that could be affected by 10% import tariffs (Manufactured in the UK 🇬🇧 & of UK 🇬🇧 origin) are as follows but not limited to:

From May 2nd 2025, the U.S. significantly expanded tariffs on Chinese-origin goods, regardless of where they are shipped from — including the UK 🇬🇧. These changes include new reciprocal tariffs, Section 301 duties, and measures under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Products of Chinese origin may have faced tariffs of up to:
- 125% reciprocal tariff
- 25% Section 301 duty
- 20% IEEPA-based tariff
→ Total potential: up to 170%
Additionally, the $800 USD de minimis exemption was removed for Chinese-origin goods, meaning all shipments, regardless of value, could be taxed.

As of May 12th, 2025, the U.S. Government and China have agreed to a 90 Day Pause in tariff escalation. This pause has temporarily lowered tariffs from approx 170% to 30% on Chinese origin goods.
Under this agreement:
- Tariffs on Chinese 🇨🇳 origin goods entering the U.S. were temporarily reduced to 30% from 170%.
- ⚠️ This Pause is valid for 90 days and subject to renewal, reversal, or revision.
- The de minimis exemption remains suspended for Chinese-origin goods.
- The reduced rate still applies regardless of the shipping origin, so even UK 🇬🇧 shipments containing Chinese 🇨🇳 made goods are affected.
⚠️ IMPORTANT SHIPPING NOTICE FOR CHINESE 🇨🇳 ORIGIN GOODS
If your order contains products of Chinese origin mentioned above (e.g. printable vinyls, lamination films, magnets and other stickiply supplies), please select the UPS Shipping option at checkout.
As of 2nd May 2025, the U.S. has imposed:
- A $100 flat fee per package on Chinese🇨🇳 origin goods shipped via International mail (e.g. International Standard/Tracked which are passed to USPS).
- This increases to $200 per package from June 1st, 2025.
➡️ UPS and other commercial couriers are not subject to the same flat postal fee, and customs clearance is much faster and more predictable. They are however still subject to the 10-30% tariffs. To avoid unnecessary fees, delays, or returns, we strongly recommend using UPS for all supply-related orders.

- Delays: These changes may also cause occasional delays while your parcel is being processed at customs.
Stickiply doesn't currently have a business presence or customs representative based in Northern Ireland, therefore this may affect how your parcel is handled. We’re working on ways to make this smoother, and we’ll keep you updated as things develop.
European Union (EU) 🇪🇺
Following the United Kingdom's departure from the EU, customers in EU member states may be subject to VAT, import duties, and handling charges.
- Orders under €150: Thanks to our integration with the EU Import One Stop Shop (IOSS), VAT is collected at checkout, minimising customs delays. However, small customs processing or brokerage fees may still apply.
- Orders over €150: VAT and customs duties will be managed by your local customs or postal service. If you’d like to pre-pay these fees, please contact us prior to placing your order so we can arrange DDP (Duty Delivered Paid)shipping.
CPTPP Countries 🇨🇦
As part of the UK’s membership in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), for Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Peru, Chile, Brunei, Malaysia, Mexico and Vietnam, many of our products, such as stickers and bookmarks, are eligible for 0% tariffs in participating countries. However:
- Local VAT (Often 20%), GST, or other consumption taxes may still apply.
- Customs processing or handling fees may be charged by your local authority.

For Countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE
