Customs and duties
Can I place a tax exempt order for my organisation (US)?
A tax exemption certificate does not reduce the amount charged on a US order. No US sales tax is collected on any Stickiply order, so a certificate has nothing to remove. The charge you see at checkout on a US order is import duties and tariffs, which a certificate does not remove either.
Why no US sales tax is charged?
Stickiply is a UK business. Our sales in any single US state stay below that state's registration threshold, the level at which a UK seller must register for and collect that state's sales tax. Below that threshold there is no registration, no collection and no sales tax line on the order.
We do however charge import duties and tariffs at checkout. Until 29 August 2025 a shipment worth under $800 entered the United States free of duty under the de minimis rule. That exemption has been removed, so every parcel is now assessed regardless of value, and the duty is pre-paid at checkout rather than billed to you on arrival.
Paying at checkout means the carrier has nothing to collect at the door: no customs invoice, no handling fee, and no parcel held until a charge is paid.
This is one answer from the Stickiply help centre, built from the questions customers email us.
